Scoring
TSA league meets have one Main Event heat (which counts for scoring/placing) per event. There are additional heats for all swimmers not swimming in a Main Event.
Only swimmers in the Main Event will receive a place ribbon, only the top 3 swimmers between both teams score points for their team
Winners of additional heats after the Main Event will receive a heat winner ribbon
No swimmer can be in all Main Events. 6 & Under are limited to no more than 2 Main Events per meet, while swimmers aged 7 & Over are limited to no more than 3 Main Events per meet.
Coaches determine which swimmers are competing in the Main Event and how many events/strokes each swimmer will participate in at each meet. Not all swimmers swim all strokes at every meet.
Relays are “winner take all”. Only first place receives points.
Swimmers are divided by age into “camps” on the pool deck. Each group is assigned a “Swimmer Wrangler” who line kids up and take them to the race Staging Area in time for their races.
At the Staging Area, Clerks of Course ensure that the right swimmers are in the correct lanes and heats.
Weather plays an inevitable role in our meets - it’s summer in the South! Meets will be halted and sometimes must be cancelled. It’s important to plan accordingly and know that we will always try to complete meets on the scheduled Tuesday night. Designated TSA reps from both teams will collaborate and decide on how to handle cancellations and delays.
